“This project kicked off with a wild idea that it must be possible to use the roof of our arena for something useful,” said Einar Håndlykken, managing director of Odd’s Ballklubb. “Now, I hope this solution inspires others with a large roof to collaborate with those developing our energy systems.”
The Skagerak Energilab with Skagerak Energi, in Skien, Norway, is a first-of-its-kind project that integrates a 4,300 m2 solar-powered rooftop microgrid, advanced grid automation, control & energy management system, and battery energy storage as-a-service (ESaaS). The photovoltaic system powers the arena floodlights, provides the neighborhood with electricity, and allows the utility to collect insights into how a “prosumer” system operates under different conditions.
Join Hitachi Energy’ experts Stefania Nargi and Pablo Almaleck, with Signe Marie Oland – Project Manager at Skagerak Nett, and learn about how to replicate this urban microgrid in your city and business.
This virtual session is designed for both sides of the network: the utilities and users. Distribution and transmission utilities, as well as commercial buildings, arenas, campuses, health care complexes, stadiums, e-bus stations, ferry stations, and more will benefit from an introduction to urban microgrids using a real case. If you are planning to launch a project or pilot in your city this webinar will help you to understand how local production plays with the established grid network. If you are just curious or in planning mode to implement a microgrid in your facility, you will also benefit from the live demo, the experience of our customer and the replication in other applications.
