With the impact of climate change, wildfires around the world are becoming more intense with evermore devastating results. These wildfires have caused significant harm to communities and the environment, on top of the financial losses due to damaged assets.

For example, failure of an overloaded surge arrester could emit high amounts of arcing and sparks which may spread rapidly and ignite fire in nearby vegetation.
